Joy, an Unmistakable Mark

An unmistakable mark of penance (conversion) is joy. Joy at knowing that God loves you, that God acts for you, that God will take you to be with Him someday. We cannot help but be joyful if we know these things. If we know them, we will willingly give up our own wills for the sake of what God wills. That is the essence of penance (conversion).
